(WXYZ) — Education Secretary Betsy DeVos reportedly told career Education Department employees to "resist" the incoming Biden administration.

Politico reported it obtained audio of a virtual meeting held by DeVos to talk to department employees about the incoming administration, saying thousands of them will be there through the Biden administration.

“Let me leave you with this plea: Resist,” DeVos said, according to Politico. “Be the resistance against forces that will derail you from doing what’s right for students. In everything you do, please put students first — always.”

DeVos also said that her goal was to do right by students, and that was the main focus of her time as Education Secretary.

According to Politico, a spokesperson for the department didn't respond to a request for comment, and wouldn't say whether or not she would stay in office until the end of the Trump administration.

President-elect Biden has not yet announced his pick for education secretary.
