Facebook is trying to make Messenger your go-to chat app.

The social media company just launched "Instant Video." It's a bit of a twist on the video calling feature the company introduced last year.

Using the Messenger app, friends are now able to share quick video moments with one another.

The new feature, Facebook notes on its official blog, could come in handy if you want to ask for a fast opinion on new shoes, or when picking up a coffee order.

The feature works on the latest version of messenger for iOS and Android -- all you have to do is tap on the video camera icon while both of your are in an open Messenger conversation, according to Facebook.

The neat part: the video player won't take over your whole screen like before -- so you can continue the text conversation along with the video stream, if you'd like.

The audio, is also set to off for default. It could prove to be a good tool, especially if you want to show something off but don't really have the time to have a long video conversation.
