DETROIT (WXYZ) — A pack of raccoons has neighbors on edge near the intersection of Sawyer and Parkland in Detroit.
Homeowners complain the pests have taken over a boarded up home and now the furry critters are on their doorsteps.
"They're getting to the point that they're trying to enter my home," one neighbor who wanted to remain anonymous told Action News
The neighbor also provided cell phone video of the raccoons outside her child's bedroom window.
Action News spoke to several other neighbors who say it's an issue that has been ongoing for a couple of years and needs to be addressed by the proper authorities.
At night the raccoons climb a tree and onto the roof of the home and into a chimney. The abandoned home has a blue trap over its roof and several boards around the exterior.
The city confirms the homeowner was cited for the conditions of the property in June. A spokesperson said an inspector would return on Friday to examine the home.
The homeowner's daughter said her father is not able to maintain the property due to this health and they believe the issue is someone in the neighborhood who is feeding the wild life in the park.
