(WXYZ) — The parents of a 5-year-old whose body was found in a frozen pound in Montcalm County are speaking out.

Beau Belson went missing Christmas Day. His body was discovered hours later in a nearby pond where he was playing with family members.

Belson's parents are living a nightmare. They say their son was the anchor of their family.

Beau was playing outside near North Holland and Fleck Road in Montcalm County the day he went missing.

Hundreds of volunteers and first responders came out in droves to search for the little boy Christmas night.

The next day his body was found by MSP's Marine Dive Team.

"Thank you to everyone from the bottom of my heart for helping me find my son," says his father.

Beau's parents say he's the missing link in their family.

"He was a lover. He was kind, heart of gold. The anchor that's going to be missed. He was our little boy, We're going to miss."

The five-year-old was living with autism.

The death investigation still underway.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Beau.
