EASTPOINTE, Mich. (WXYZ) — An Eastpointe man who went missing was later found dead in Detroit. Now, his family is grieving that loss.

Maurice Stubbs, 46, is a father of four, a hard worker, a grandfather and husband, said his daughter Rachelle Boykins, and she just doesn't know how to deal with the tragedy.

“He was heading out to work on Sunday the 3rd around 7(p.m.)," Boykins said. "That’s the last time anyone seen him.”

Stubbs was missing for a few days before he was found dead on East Irvington between Remington and State Fair. He was found inside his own vehicle Tuesday, March 5 in the morning.

Questions have been raised surrounding the death.

“We were looking for him all of last night," Boykins said. "We made a police report with Eastpointe police. I just went on a hunt to look for him and found him.”

A spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department says there were no signs of trauma to the body, however, according to DPD spokeswoman Latrice Crawford, the death is being considered "suspicious," and a homicide unit is investigating.

Police say Stubbs was found in the back seat of his Dodge car with a large amount of blood near his body. He was also not wearing a shirt or coat.

Family members say a lack of information is only making this gut-wrenching time for Stubbs' family even harder.

“Who did this and why? Why did they take him from us? That’s what I want to know,” Boykins said.

A cause of death has not yet been determined by the medical examiner's office. If you have information on this case, the police and family urge you to contact police.

Editor's note: This story originally stated that Detroit police did not offer information on Stubbs' death. On Wednesday, March 6, a spokewoman offered additional information on the death, and that it is being investigated as a homicide.
