The family of a man struck and killed by a Detroit police car on the way to an emergency is calling on the department to release dash cam video of the accident to them and their attorney.

Part of the video was released to digital media outlet M-Live Wednesday.

Tonieo Spann, 18, was struck and killed Dec. 7, 2016 while riding his bicycle in the northbound lane of Oakland Avenue. He had just finished his shift at Oakland Stamping plant. The police car was westbound on the Davison north service drive. It struck Spann at the Oakland Avenue intersection. The Wayne County prosecutor cleared the officer of any wrongdoing.

Spann's family viewed a soundless clip of the accident through M-Live, but they want to the department to release the entire video to them or their attorney, Jeffrey Fieger. Fieger's office did not respond to a call for comment.

7 Action News submitted a Freedom of Information Act request for the video months ago but the department has yet to respond. A spokesperson could not be reached for comment Wednesday evening.
