The Michigan Department of Education has received a federal waiver that will allow children to eat meals at schools during unanticipated school closures.
The state also released a map that will be updated twice each day with locations where students can get meals while schools are closed.

The meals are available to all children at no cost. Under the waiver, they would not be required to be served in a group setting.
The waiver assists Michigan school food service staff to make sure kids receive meals during the state-wide school closures announced by Governor Gretchen Whitmer as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the waiver, there are several options available for serving meals to students. One option is to allow parents and children to pick up meals at a designated location. Another is to deliver meals to school bus stops.
There are currently 25 positive cases of coronavirus in Michigan.
