A fire destroyed a Pinckney medical clinic that served the uninsured.
(WXYZ) - It's been called a clinic inspired by the work of God, but around 3:45 a.m. on Monday a devastating fired ripped through the Faith Medical Clinic in Pinckney.
The fire destroyed everything they use to provide medical and mental health care to the uninsured.
Dr. Mitchell Goldman and his wife Laura opened up the medical clinic about 5.5 years ago.
"We've lost everything," said Laura Goldman. "The only thing that we were able to salvage was our patients' medical records."
We're told the number of uninsured the clinic serves has grown to about 2,000 people-- mostly people living in Livingston County.
Doctors, nurses, medical assistants and others all volunteer their time and talent to help those who don't have insurance and so Tuesday's fire is nothing short of devastating for so many.
But with a lot of faith and the generosity of others--the volunteers are anxious to re-open and hoping to be able to do so in about four to six weeks.
It appears an electrical problem caused the fire.
