A Sterling Heights man was arraigned Wednesday on three counts of criminal sexual conduct.
Hurmiz Ishak, 63, is a deacon at St. Joseph's Church in Troy. According to police, Ishak's offenses were reported by church clergy on Oct. 14 after they were made aware of the incidents by the victim's family.
Ishak was suspended by St. Joseph Church when a senior clergy learned of the allegations.
Police say the victim is a teenager and the sexual assault occurred over the past several months.
