DETROIT (WXYZ) — Former Detroit police officer Michael Mosley pleaded guilty to bribery after taking $15,000 in cash bribes from a drug trafficker.

A 19-year DPD veteran, Mosley was a member of the Police Department's Major Violators Unit in April 2019.

Detroit police officers, including Mosley, searched a drug trafficker's house on a search warrant, uncovering two kilograms of heroin, one kilogram of cocaine and six firearms.

Prosecutors say the drug trafficker confessed to owning the three kilograms of drugs to Mosley and signed a confession. After the search, Mosley remained in contact with the trafficker to secure cooperation with other criminal activity

Allegedly, the drug trafficker offered Mosley $15,000 in exchange for not pursuing criminal charges based on the drug seizure. Mosley agreed to the deal, prosecutors say.

On May 2, 2019, he collected $10,000 in cash that the drug dealer left in the backyard of an abandoned house. On May 23, 2019, Mosley accepted another $5,000 in cash left for him by the drug trafficker. In exchange, prosecutors say, Mosley gave the drug trafficker the original copy of his confession.
