MILAN, Mich. (WXYZ) — A Milan police officer was fired after allegations of criminal sexual conduct with a child under 13 years old.

Michael Gary Couture has been charged with five counts of criminal sexual conduct involving children.

Couture was also a part-time officer with the Clinton Village Police Department and a former liaison officer for Milan schools.

"This matter is a personal issue, and has been thoroughly and professionally handled by the Michigan State Police and the Lenawee County Prosecuting Attorney," said Karen Samborski, Milan's City Administrator, in a release. "As such, and to protect Mr. Couture's due process, the City of Milan has no further comment."
