There are new details in the case of a former Detroit school principal accused of stealing from the district.

Today, Ron Alexander fired his attorney. It happened during a plea hearing.

Alexander was the principal at Spain Elementary School. He's accused of pocketing $23,000 in kickbacks from Norman Shy.

Shy has already admitted to paying off numerous DPS principals to approve invoices for supplies from his company.

Spain Elementary recently received a $500,000 Lowes donation from Ellen DeGeneres.

Lowes says in spite of all this, they are not taking back the donation--and will follow through on the promise to help the school with repairs.
