Annual mammograms are credited with discovering breast cancer early in thousands of women, so when statistics show that half of uninsured women in Detroit are not getting their annual check-ups it’s cause for concern.

That’s why UAW-Ford has teamed up with Northland Radiology to bring free mammograms to the uninsured and underinsured women in metro Detroit.

“This is another way UAW-Ford honors its commitment to community service,” said Jimmy Settles, UAW-Ford Vice President.

This is the fifth year the program has been put on, however, this year they’re extending the program to a full two-weeks, including Saturday appointments.

Appointments are necessary to take part in the free mammogram services. You can take part in a confidential screening phone call by calling: 313-392-7398.

The appointments will also allow for a free shuttle transportation for women ho have arranged appointments.

“As a community leader in women’s health, Northland Radiology is proud to be a continuous partner with UAW-Ford, affording us the opportunity to offer free mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women,” said mammogram technician Pam Bradford.

The screening will be taking place at Northland Radiology which is located at 20905 Greenfield Road in Southfield from October 16th through October 28th between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are required.
