(WXYZ) — Ready to add a furry friend into the family?
The Michigan Humane Society is currently offering free pet adoptions at all facilities.
The organization's Board of Directors is covering all adoption fees at all adoption centers, according to a social media post.
This comes after Detroit police and the Humane Society's investigation team raided four homes on the city's east side in an ongoing dog-fighting investigation.
Michigan Humane Society wrote:
To help ease the strain on our shelter teams as we begin to care for these dogs, we need to move as many of our adoptable animals into forever homes as soon as possible.
Right now, the adoption facility in Detroit only has cats.
