SPARTA, Mich. (WXYZ) — Freezing rain created an amazing nature phenomenon in West Michigan.

Andrew Sietsema took photos of "ghost apples" in Sparta.

According to WZZM, Sietsema said that ghost apples are sometimes left behind when freezing rain covers apples, which then freeze and turn to mush. While pruning, he noticed that the mush was draining out the bottom, and the "ghost apples" were left behind.
