(WXYZ) — Just when you thought spring had finally sprung we should get a reminder Wednesday night that we have a long way to go before it is here to stay. Over the weekend we had highs in the 60s and 70s then today we topped the 70° mark again making these last few days the longest "warm" stretch since last October. However, temps will drop about ten degrees each day through Wednesday making us cold enough to possibly see some snowflakes Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. It doesn't look like it will stick and bother the morning commute, but it just may bother you out of principle.

Keep in mind that even though the average last snow date for Detroit is today, April 8th, the latest time it has snowed here in the Detroit area was in May! May 22nd, 1883 it snowed 0.1". That is enough (or maybe too much in your mind) to make the ground white.

It may make you feel better to know that by as soon as Thursday afternoon we should be back in the mid to upper 50s. That is a quick recovery from the possible early snow on the same day! Thursday night we could be back in spring mode with heavy rain and thunder possible. This is what makes it so fun to forecast in Michigan in the spring. The old adage is "wait 5 minutes and the weather will change in Michigan". This week is living proof!
