Gas prices down in metro Detroit fall after dramatic rise last week

After seeing a dramatic increase last week, gas prices have started to fall in metro Detroit, according to GasBuddy.

GasBuddy says the average price of gas in Detroit has fallen 2.3 cents with the average now $2.43 a gallon. That price is still above the national average of $2.33 a gallon, which is a 2.1 cents per gallon increase.

Prices in metro Detroit were 13.9 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago, and the national average is 21.6 cents per gallon higher than last year. Last week, prices rose 8.3 cents per gallon.

Other areas in metro Detroit with their current gas prices include Ann Arbor at #2.44 per gallon, down five cents, Flint at $2.32 a gallon, down 13.6 cents, and Toledo at $2.21 a gallon, down 7.4 cents.

According to GasBuddy, prices in Detroit have ranged widely over the last few years, with it $2.29 in 2016, $2.53 in 2015, $3.38 in 2014, $3.51 in 2013 and $4.06 in 2012.
