Gas prices in metro Detroit rise drastically after weeks of falling

After seeing weeks of falling gas prices, they are once again climbing in metro Detroit, according to the latest GasBuddy survey.

According to GasBuddy, prices rose 8.1 cents per gallen in the past week with the average now at $2.49 per gallon.

While prices around here are up, they are down 1.6 cents nationwide to $2.45 er gallon.

Compred tot his time last year, prices are 26.4 cents higher than a year ago and 3.3 cents per gallon lower than a month ago.

The Ann Arbor area is up 7.8 cents to $2.54 per gallon and Flint is up 17 cents to $2.52 per gallon.

When comparing it to previous years, gas was $2.23 in 2016 at the time, $2.40 in 2015, $3.11 in 2014, $3.41 in 2013 and $3.68 in 2012.
