(WXYZ) — Giving Tuesday is a day to give back.

The charitable day started back in 2012 as a way for people to help organizations and communities by donating time, money or gifts.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division is matching the first $7 million in donations made on its website.

All donations made to the Henry Ford's website today will go towards installing the Detroit Central Farmers Market in Greenfield Village. Those donations will also be matched by the Henry Ford's longtime supporters, Don and Mary Kosch.

Additionally, Milford charity Five Points of Hope is asking for donations in order to help cancer patients during the holidays. View more information on their website here.

Lucky's Market is also hosting a "holiday impact day" where 10 percent of the store's total sales from Tuesday will be donated to those in need through the Food Gatherers organization.
