Gluten-free chicken nuggets recalled due to possible wood contamination

(WXYZ) — Perdue Foods is recalling about 68,244 pounds of chicken nugget products that may be contaminated with wood, according to FSIS.

The chicken nuggets were produced on Oct. 25. The following is subject to recall:

  • 22-oz. plastic bag packages of frozen “PERDUE SimplySmart ORGANICS BREADED CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS GLUTEN FREE” with “Best By: Date 10/25/19” and UPC Bar Code “72745-80656” represented on the label. Bears establishment number P-33944 inside USDA mark of inspection.

The problem was discovered when three consumers complained that wood was found in the product. FSIS says there have been no confirmed reports of illness due to consumption of the products.

Consumers who have purchased the products are urged not to consume them and throw them away or return to the place of purchase.
