(WXYZ) - The Salvation Army of Warren received quite the surprise in one of its iconic red kettles this year.
A 1980 South African Kruggerand gold coin was dropped anonymously into a red kettle at Kroger in St. Clair Shores recently.
The Salvation Army says the coin has an estimated value of $1,200--that's enough to help provide coats to keep 48 children warm this winter season.
