Two Good Samaritans stepped in to help an elderly woman Wednesday afternoon at a Kroger in Roseville.

An elderly woman was grocery shopping at the Kroger on 13 Mile Road when she left her purse unattended in her cart.

Police say 53-year-old Ricky Allen Bielet, of New Baltimore, snatched the woman's purse and took off running out of the store.

Two people witnessed the incident and chased the suspect. The Good Samaritans were able to apprehend and detain the suspect until Roseville police arrived moments later.

One of those Good Samaritans is John Stapleton who just stopped in Kroger to grab a couple items when he heard the woman screaming.

"I just started chasing after him, and I'm running around the outside of the building when I see this other guy coming saying 'Let's get this guy,'" said Stapleton.

Bielet was charged with larceny and disturbing the peace, court officials say.

His bond was set at $50,000, and he is currently being held at the Macomb County Jail.

He is due back in court on October 17, 2018.
