Google has begun to experiment with a new app called Hands Free.
Customers can make purchases with the app by just telling the store clerk they’re paying with Google.
Hands Free uses Bluetooth, WiFi, location services and other sensors to detect when you’re near a participating store, according to the internet giant.
When customers go to pay, they reportedly verify their initials while the clerk cross-checks the ID photo in the Hands Free profile.
Notifications are sent after every purchase—and Google notes that full credit card numbers aren't shared with the store.
Right now, Google's official commerce blog indicates the company is working with McDonalds and Papa John's in South Bay to run a pilot program with the app.
They are also experimenting with visual identification using an in-store camera to make check-outs even quicker.
