Gordon Food Service will open a new grocery store in downtown Detroit, marking the company's first store in the city after decades of serving Detroit restaurant through its commercial food service program.
The new 16,000-square-foot store on East Jefferson Avenue will feature fresh produce, meat, chicken tenders, rotisserie and broasted chicken made fresh throughout the day.
It will also feature the company's orange juice and fresh in-store baked goods, including breads, muffins, cupcakes and cookies.
The store is also offering online ordering with in-store pickup service exclusively for commercial customers.
More than 30 employees were hired for the new location.
