The governor's office says Governor Rick Snyder will spend then next month using Flint's water to show residents that measures put into place are making it safe to use.

Snyder will drink and cook with filtered Flint water for at least the next 30 days. The announcement came after Snyder visited the city today, where he spoke with a resident who has expressed concerns about whether the water is safe to drink. During that meeting, Snyder drank the filtered water.

“I completely understand why some Flint residents are hesitant to drink the water and I am hopeful I can alleviate some of the skepticism and mistrust by putting words to action,” Snyder said in a news release. “Flint residents made it clear that they would like to see me personally drink the water, so today I am fulfilling that request. And I will continue drinking Flint water at work and at home for at least 30 days.”

Experts have said that water quality in Flint is at the point where it is safe to drink, as long as it is filtered.

Snyder's office says he left the city with enough filtered water to get his month started. The governor will refill his supply during weekly visits to the city.
