She’s a math wiz at school with an affinity for poetry.

“My favorite subject in school is English Lit,” said Angel.

The 16-year-old foster child who is waiting to be adopted describes herself as a quiet person who eventually comes out of her shell.

“I’m very outgoing. Sometimes I’ll be shy, but that’s when I first meet someone,” she explained.

“I really like to play the ukulele. I like music a lot,”she added.

“My favorite kind of music is either heavy metal or post hard core. My favorite TV show is American Horror Story. I really like horror films,” said Angel.

She’s also an animal lover.

“I like dogs, but I really love cats,” she said with a smile.

Getting outside for some fresh air in Michigan is also important to her.

“I like to go for walks. I like hiking. When I lived in Marquette, I climbed up Mount Sugar Loaf,” she said.

When she grows up, she’d like to become a forensic biochemist.

She also would like to help other kids who’ve been in foster care.

“I want to become a foster parent personally to where I can get kids out of the system and keep them safe,” she said.

“It’s very important because a couple of years you’re going to be 18. You’re going to be on your own. It’s like you want to have a family to go back to,” explained Angel.

“I’m really looking forward to being able to have family nights and have fun, be a teenager while I can,” she added.

“I’m looking for a family that cares and I want someone, like, a family that wouldn’t mind my struggles, that would care for me through my struggles,” she said softly.
