Working under the hood of a sports car is not a stretch for 13-year-old Eric.  The seventh grader who has spent time in foster care is hoping a family will adopt him one day soon.

“I’ve been experienced with cars for pretty much my whole life. I’ve worked on cars by myself. I’m kind of into old planes, too,” explained Eric.

When he grows up, he wants to become a mechanical engineer and work on race cars or  planes.

“I was going to try to be a pilot when I got into the Air Force. I want to probably be an instructor to teach people flying lessons and be in a higher class pilot,” he said.

His favorite food is pizza. His favorite animals are dogs.

“I’m just a really cool dude to be around. I’m friendly,” he said describing himself.

He’s also interested in sports.

“For the three years I’ve been in placement, I’ve started playing basketball. I’ve got really good at it and just started liking it more. I started shooting closer,” said Eric.

Football and baseball are a couple of other sports he enjoys.

He is also an avid video game player.  His favorite is the Xbox and NBA 2K.

But classics are among his faves as well.

“I like playing Pokemon. I like watching Pokemon. I have two whole boxes of Pokemon cards. I have Pokemon games – all of them,” he said with a smile.

He’d love a future forever family who likes to travel.  Visiting sunny beaches in California and Florida would be on his list.

“I want a family that will support me through the ways I need. And if I have problems, they can help me talk through them. I just want families that will support me through my lifespan until I’m old enough to support myself,” he said.

He wants a family he can share his history with.

“What I really think adoption means to me -- adults in life that are wanting to help kids and giving kids a second chance in life,” he added.
