“I would like people to know that I’m caring,” said Mauricio – a 15-year-old in the 11th grade.

He’s had a tough start in life, but you’d never know it seeing his bright smile.

“King of Pop,” is his answer when asked how he’d describe himself in 3 words.

He’s a big Michael Jackson fan.

“Some of his songs taught me some stuff like not to be mean and not to hurt other people,” he explained.

When he grows up, Mauricio would like to be either an athlete or an artist.

“I like to play sports. I’m funny. I’m creative.”

His favorite sports are football and basketball.

“The sports teams I like for the NBA would be the Cleveland Cavaliers, and for the NFL it would be the Detroit Lions,” he said.

“But if a football or basketball career won’t work, I would be a graphic designer,” he added.

He enjoys drawing and sketching very much.  His case worker describes him as having an independent spirit.

But he’s ready to find his forever family.

“I’d love to have a Mom, a Dad and brothers and sisters. I’d like to be a middle child,” he said.

“What adoption means to me is I’ll get a family that really cares about me, that will really take care of me, and do stuff that I like to do,” he added.

Then he gave some examples.

“Like a Super Bowl or birthday party, I’d like to have my friends come over and have a big game day,” he smiled.

He’d also like to remain close to his brother so he can continue to have a relationship with him.

As for his new family, he dreams that they’ll be loving, caring, helpful and nice.

“I’d be protective of my family, be nice to them, and play games with them,” he explained.
