DETROIT (WXYZ) — Turn on some fun tunes, and you’ll likely see Serinity dancing to the beat. The 16-year-old who’s in foster care and waiting to be adopted is a big fan of music and movement.

“I like to sing, and I like to dance,” said Serinity. “I dance in my room.”

She digs Beyonce, Fantasia, and Drake – to name a few of her favorite artists.

She wants to work on her vocals because she enjoys singing so much. But she sees a future for herself in the beauty industry.

“I want to be a cosmetologist – do hair and makeup and all of that. I like doing makeup,” she said.

“She is stylish and always looks nice wherever she goes out,” said her worker.

Serinity said her best friend would describe her as hilarious, smart, and confident.

She’s also adventurous and would like to travel in her future.

“When I grow up, I’m going to save all my money, and I’m going to Jamaica. Because it’s beautiful! Have you not seen it?!” she exclaimed with a big smile. “I want to be on the beaches in my bathing suit having fun!”

When it comes to extracurricular activities, cheerleading and track are her top two.

“I run fast,” she said. “Plus, I like cheerleading.”

She is a talkative and outgoing teen who does well in school.

“When I’m feeling down, ice cream makes me happy,” she confided. “I love ice cream more than cake.”

She’s really looking forward to finding her future family. She’s been waiting to be adopted since July of 2018.

“I want a Mom and a Dad or just a Mom,” she said.

“Adoption is about love, care, and hope, and a family that loves you,” Serinity explained.
