DETROIT (WXYZ) — At ten years of age, K’Ymari is a fifth grader in foster care who has a zest for life well beyond his years.

“I like to play outside. I like to play video games. I like to play with other kids,” said K’Ymari (pronounced Key-MAR-ee).

Basketball and soccer are among his favorite sports. He also likes swimming, playing tag, and skillfully hanging out on his hoverboard.

“My hoverboard is black. It's it lights up. I like to spin in circles. I like to go back and forth. I like to go fast, but sometimes it just beeps,” he explained.

He also likes all kinds of animals.

“I like bunnies. I like, I like frogs. I like lizzards. I like dogs. I love dogs. I like cats,” he said.

When asked how his friends might describe him, he answers quickly.

“My friends think that I am weird. They think that I'm interesting. They think that I'm funny. They think that I can be difficult at some times,” said K’Ymari.

K’Ymari likes different subjects and experiences at school.

“[I like] Math, but it's hard. It's challenging for me. I know gym is not a subject, but I like gym a lot,” he said. “I'm a very good reader. I got some books for Christmas. I've got like a whole series of books. It's called The Diary of a Wimpy Kid.”

“My best day would be going swimming and eating ice cream and playing video games. That would probably be the best day of my life,” he said with a big smile.

When it comes to his future with an adoptive family, he has some dreams.

“Well, I would like to live, like, far away from like the city where I can have like a lot of animals, and I don't have to be disturbed,” he explained.

“I would like to go to Antarctica cause I want to see some polar bears," he added.

"When I grow up, I want to be a cop because I want to help people. And I want to do the right thing when I get older and be a good person," said K'Ymari.

He would love to be adopted by a Mom and Dad who have pets and other children.

He really looks forward to dinners together and watching films.

"I would like to go out to eat once in a while. I would like to go to the movie theater," he said.

K’Ymari has been waiting to be adopted since February of 2019.
