DETROIT (WXYZ) — You might catch Tyler on a baseball diamond or a basketball court in his spare time. The 15-year-old – who’s currently in foster care – is hoping his future family will be into sports, too.
“I like to play basketball. I still play every day because it’s my favorite sport. I’m a baseball fan. I’m a pitcher. I play pitcher and first base,” he said.
And his skills are being recognized!
“I was on an All-Star team. We came in second place for the All-Star team and first place for the regular season,” he said proudly.
The teenager said he and his buddies are typical kids.
“My friends will either skateboard, play basketball, maybe go to the park, go to the pool, hang out in my room, play video games,” he explained.
How does he describe himself?
“I think my friends think of me as more of a charismatic, creative type of funny guy. I’m kind of like the jokester of our team. I can be serious when I want to, but I just like to make people laugh,” said Tyler.
As for future aspirations, he’d like to go through police academy and become a police officer.
“I want to be there for people that have trouble in their environment and make sure people are safe. I want to go back home and be someone that kids can look up to,” he said.
But his main dream is to be adopted.
“I just want to be the best person for the family. I just need a home, somebody to take care of me, and somebody to love me,” he said.
