DETROIT (WXYZ) — An elderly man has been hospitalized early Tuesday morning after crews pulled him from a group home fire in Detroit.

It happened at a group home on Rutheford, not far from 7 Mile and Greenfield.

7 Action News has learned that the fire chief from station 4 was able to pull the elderly man from the home. The victim is now receiving
treatment for smoke inhalation at Sinai Grace.

Arson investigators are being sent to the home because fire crews believe someone from inside the home set the fire around 3:30 a.m.

There was severe damage to the home. Right now, it's unclear whether the people who stay inside the home will be able to return.
