People living in one Detroit neighborhood will get their chance to voice concerns over a new proposal.

It's a proposal from the Marathon Petroleum Company to increase the pollution in the air from its plant on the city's southwest side.

Many are already fed-up with the smell coming from the petroleum plant.

We've learned the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality will be present at the public hearing on the issue.

It'll be the second one of its kind since the proposal hit the DEQ's office.

Action News has learned emissions would increase and include at least 8 more harmful pollutants, including 22 more tons of sulfur dioxide in the air every year.

Tonight's meeting is being put on by the Detroit City Council. They are encouraging everyone to attend at 6 p.m. at the Patton Recreation Center on Woodmere Street.
