(WXYZ) — The Henry Ford Health System has unveiled a new Mobile Mammography vehicle, which is pushing the drive for breast cancer screening and education across southeast Michigan.
The vehicle is fully-equipped with state-of-the-art digital breast tomosynthesis, known as 3D mammography, and is available for visits at 11 locations across metro Detroit, and nine locations in south-central Michigan.
Physicians at Henry Ford are encouraging women to ASK – ask for an exam, ask about breast density, and ask other women, as early detection can be they key to survival, and having a mammogram can make that critical difference.
The vehicle is a self-contained, luxury coach that has the highest-quality imaging and processional medical care. It features a waiting room, changing room and exam room.
The screening only takes about 30 minutes, and routine mammography results are available typically within 3-5 days.
