(WXYZ) — Marijuana was back on the ballot on Primary Day in some communities where local leaders slammed the door shut after state legalization.

A proposal in Ecorse passed, with 55% of voters saying yes. It kickstarts the process for an ordinance allowing marijuana businesses, but it does not specify the number of licenses.

However, voters in Clinton Township said no to their pot proposal, with 53% voting no.

Had it passed, the proposal would have allowed a dozen recreational shops, as well as other facilities.
