Human skull found on Detroit's eastside by volunteers

DETROIT - (WXYZ) - Volunteers trying to clean up an east side Detroit neighborhood made a disturbing find. What's believed to be a human skull was found near Louis and Holcomb late this morning.

Volunteers with Hantz-farms and Carhartt have been working to make a difference in some of the city's most blighted neighborhoods.

They've been cutting down tall grass and picking up trash in order to make the community safer and more livable for the residents.

But, today one of the volunteers found the skull in some weeds and called police.

"They were here within ten minutes working to find out if it is. It doesn't happen every day. It's unfortunate that it did," says Mike Score, president of Hantz Farms.

Detroit police say are going to bring in cadaver dogs to make sure no other body parts are there.
