MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — The eastbound I-696 exit to Couzens Avenue will be closed indefinitely, the Michigan Department of Transportation.
The closure is due to ongoing investigation and cleanup efforts after chemicals leaked onto the freeway.
The northbound I-75 ramp to eastbound I-696 will also have the far-right lane closed indefinitely.
Westbound I-696 traffic is not affected.
For a detour, eastbound I-696 traffic can go further east to exit at Dequindre Avenue.
