Icy roadways cause accidents, road shutdowns across metro Detroit area

(WXYZ) - Numerous accidents are being reported due to icy road conditions across metro Detroit.
Detroit Police say I-75 southbound is closed at Junction after an accident Monday evening due to the weather.
Earlier in the evening, Farmington Hills Police say there was a nine-car pileup on Halsted Road just south of I-696 in Farmington Hills.
Michigan State Police say a two-car accident shut down I-96 at Kent Lake near Milford for about an hour. It has since reopened.
A one-car accident on the westbound M-5 ramp had it closed for a short time. The M-5 ramp to westbound I-96 has also reopened.
The Pittsfield Towship Department of Public Safety is asking drivers avoid Ellsworth Road over I-94 and US-23 because of multiple accidents on the bridges. Ellsworth is closed between Platt and Carpenter.
In northern Oakland County, police say there are several small accidents due to icy weather.
