An incident at the site of the Fraser sinkhole earlier this week has allowed sewage to enter the repair trench.

According to Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller, the incident happened overnight between Monday and Tuesday, and caused about 9 feet of sewage to enter and fill the repair trench.

The trench is located between Utica and Hayes roads on the border between Fraser and Clinton Township.

Miller is expected to speak on the incident Wednesday afternoon.

The massive sinkhole opened up on Christmas Eve after a sewer line along 15 Mile collapsed. It left three homes condemned because of the sinkhole.

After inspection of the 15 Mile sewer interceptor, crews found several cracks and fractures in the pipe, with water trickling through them.
