INKSTER (WXYZ) — An Inkster couple was arraigned on charges of torture, unlawful imprisonment and assault on Tuesday.
Vera Miller, 38, and Corey Hill, 30, made a virtual appearance together at the 22nd District Court from the Inkster jail.
The couple is accused of holding a man hostage and assaulting him on numerous occasions. They entered a not guilty plea.
The alleged victim was found in his underwear after he escaped the couple on Oct. 22, according to the criminal complaint. Police found the man and took him to the hospital.

"The complainant said Hill and Miller put a dog shock collar on him, shocked him with it," Sgt. Lebo said in the courtroom. "Whooped him with extension cords, beat him with a wooden board, took boiling hot water from the hot water heater in the basement, put it in a bucket and forced him to put his hand in it for several minutes."
Investigators said he had bumps and bruises all over his body. The alleged victim claimed he had been tormented.
The criminal complaint also said he was forced to chew on a urine-soaked face towel that the dog used. Authorities went to Miller and Hill's home on the 4000 block of Burton last week.
The couple's court appointed attorney said they have three children as young as 2 years old. The attorney also said Miller does hair for a living out of her home.
The couple was given a $250,000 cash bond.
