Another mass shooting happened on Thursday in the United States. The shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon killed 10 people and injured seven others.

Authorities say the 26-year-old gunman was heavily armed with three pistols, a rifle and five extra magazines. He was also wearing body armor when he opened fire inside a classroom on campus.

This was the 294th mass shooting reported this year, and many people are wondering why they continue to happen and how we can try to prevent them from continuing.

Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon and Chris Nixon, a social worker at Eastwood Clinics joined The Now Detroit to talk more about the issue.
