HAMTRAMCK, Mich. (WXYZ) — Detroit rocker Jack White announced earlier this year he and other groups were raising money to restore a historic Negro League ballpark in Hamtramck, and this week, White will play in a charity baseball game for the park.

The game will happen at Hamtramck Stadium on Thursday, July 11 at 12 p.m. The ballpark was built in 1930 and hosted the Detroit Stars in 1930-31 and in 1933. It's one of the few remaining Negro League ballparks in the country.

Hamtramck Stadium hosted many Negro League legends over the years including Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, Cool Papa Bell and Detroit's own Norman "Turkey" Stearnes.

Stearnes' daughters will actually sing the National Anthem prior to the game, and Robert Bradley will sing "America The Beautiful" during the 7th inning stretch.

White will be joined by former Philadelphia Phillies farmhand Ben Jenkins, The Raconteurs band mate Brendan Benson, as well as other friends and bandmates including Tori Kinsler, the brother of Ian Kinsler. Ian Kinsler and White are also part owners of the Warstic Bat Company.

The field is located at 3201 Dan Street in Hamtramck. Admission to the game is free and donations will be accepted with merchandise also available from Warstic to benefit the Friends
