Jerry Abu El Hawa, popular server at American Coney Island, dies

(WXYZ) - A popular server at American Coney Island in Detroit has passed away.
The Keros family said that Jerry Abu El Hawa was a valued employee and a staple at the restaurant for over 40 years.
Jerry was 68 years old.
The Keros family released the following statement Wednesday night:
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of American Coney Island's dedicated and much loved employee Jerry Abu El Hawa. For the past 40 years, Jerry has been an iconic character behind the counter of ACI, serving generations of customers with his warm and witty personality. He was more than an employee to us, he was family and will be dearly missed by our staff and loyal customers. Our deepest sympathies go out to Jerry's wife Faye and son Ali.
Jerry's viewing will be held at the Dearborn Community Center from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Thursday and the burial will follow at United Memorial Gardens in Plymouth.
