Michigan Basketball Head Coach John Beilein has signed a contract extension that will keep him in Ann Arbor for several more years.

The university announced on Wednesday that Beilein, 65, signed a contract extension through the 2022-23 season. The new deal also automatically extends one additional year and repeats every year until Beilein, or the university, has given notice that the renewal will not be exercised by mid-April.

I am grateful for the opportunity the University of Michigan has given to me over the past 11 years," Beilein said in a release. "Kathleen and I love Ann Arbor, our University, our fans and the state of Michigan. We will continue to work very hard in the future to have our basketball team reflect the greatness of this University."

"I am thrilled to ensure John's leadership of our basketball program today and into the future," Athletic Director Warde Manuel said. "I am very pleased with our shared dialog throughout the process, and I am extremely happy that one of the game's great coaches is representing the University of Michigan."

Beilein will start his 12th season in Ann Arbor after leading the Wolverines to the National Championship game last year. The team also had a record 33 win season and his second trip to the Final Four in six years.

He is already the all-time leader in wins for the university with 248, and has a career record of 799-461 in 41 years as a collegiate head coach.

The Wolverines have also made eight trips to the NCAA Tournament and two trips to the National Championship game.
