Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Karen McDonald, a Democrat, has won the race for Oakland County Prosecutor.
She beat out Republican Attorney Lin Goetz in the race.
In the August primary, McDonald also upset incumbent Prosecutor Jessica Cooper, who has served as prosecutor since 2011. She was the first Democrat to serve as prosecutor in four decades.
McDonald has served in the prosecutor’s office in the past. She was an assistant prosecuting attorney from 1999-2004 and then went into private practice. She was then elected to the Oakland County Circuit Court in November 2012 until April 2019.
