A Kentucky state employee was found dead after the plow he was driving slid off the road in Christian County.

Officials with the Christian County EMA said a snow plow truck driver for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet slid off the road and got stranded.

He called his supervisor around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, and the supervisor went out to help.

The area had nearly a foot of snow this weekend as the giant Mid-Atlantic snow storm moved east. Earlier on Saturday, Interstate 75 in Kentucky reopened after the interstate was closed overnight, stranding hundreds of travelers.

When the supervisor arrived on the scene, he found the driver dead.

The driver has been identified as 44-year-old Christopher Adams. He was a 16-year veteran with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Officials believe it may have been a medical issue, but were waiting to get the tests results to find out the exact cause. They said the was not suspicious, and was not related to the crash.

KYTC District Chief Engineer Kevin McClearn said Adams's death was tough on the other workers, who continued to work tirelessly to clear the streets.

"Our crews are very tight knit. Working long hours in all kinds of weather you get to know the character of people around you," said McClearn. "Losing a friend and coworker is always tough, but our Christian County Crew is continuing work today to carry on efforts to make travel safer for the rest of us."

The road was closed while officials investigated, but was re-opened around 9:30 a.m.
