Kids can participate in games and activities in Southfield this summer

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) — Southfield will host free recreation days starting on June 18 at several neighborhood parks in the city.

The new initiative is called "Recreation on the Move" and geared toward young people between ages five and thirteen. Participants can participate in crafts, games and other activities on designated Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings.

Tuesday events begin June 18 and end on August 20. Thursday evening events run from June 20 to August 22. while Friday evening events run from June 21 to July 12. Friday events are in partnership with the "Summer in the City" concert series.

The program offers supervision and does not require registration. Events are set to take place at Bauervic Woods Park, Inglenook Park, Miller Park, Freeway Park and the Municipal Campus Front Lawn.
