As we head into the Labor Day weekend, temperatures and humidity will soar along with the chance for occasional showers and storms.

Today will remain dry and pleasant with low humidity and highs near 80°.  A transition into more humid air begins as early as tonight with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s.

On Saturday, an advancing warm front will ignite a line of showers and storms to our west during the morning hours.  As the line progresses, it will likely break down somewhat with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible across metro Detroit.  High temperatures will climb into the mid-80s, but it will feel more like the low 90s.

If you are planning to attend the Michigan game at Notre Dame, that line of rain and storms just mentioned will cross South Bend in the morning.  A stray shower or thunderstorm will be possible during the afternoon hours.  It will be muggy with temperatures in the 70s at game time.  Even though the odds aren't that high for wet weather late in the day, it's best to still be prepared.

The chance for rain and thunderstorms increase on Saturday night across Metro Detroit.  It will be quite humid with lows near 70°.

Both Sunday and Monday will be steamy with highs into the mid to upper 80s with heat indices above 90°.  As the heat builds each afternoon, we'll have to watch for scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Even though this weekend is known as the unofficial end to summer, it will feel every bit like summer.

Also, please keep in mind, even though we will have numerous dry hours through the holiday weekend to enjoy outdoor fun and activities, it's still a good idea to check our Storm Shield App for the latest radar trends.  Have a safe and pleasant Labor Day weekend!
