Residents of the Woodford Apartments in Highland Park are upset with their new landlord who has decided that in order to save money, maintenance workers will turn the heat off intermittently throughout the course of the day and night.

Heat and water are included in the rent.

When 7 Action News reached Victor "Doc" Grant, operations manager of Woodford LLC, on his cell phone Thursday, he said the move is to save money.

Grant said if residents find the situation uncomfortable, they will be allowed to break their lease with 30-days notice and without penalty, but he doubts many people will choose to leave because he says the rent is affordable, ranging from $400 to $600 a month.

When Woodford LLC acquired the property on Ferris Street near Woodward on January 1, 2016, it was in bad shape and drowning in debt, according to Grant.
