LAPEER COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) — Fighting for her life, a local sheriff’s deputy is telling her story to 7 Action News in hopes of finding a kidney donor. Deputy Shanin Beall puts her life on the line every single day to keep us safe, but now she’s asking the community for help as she battles a serious illness.

“This is a fight for my life," Beall said. "I’m hoping someone will be able to help, and want to see as many people as possible at my fundraiser.” Beall said.

Beall says a GoFundMe page has been set up to help with the cost of medical bills. Donations can be made here.

Beall grew up in Michigan. She’s a proud hunter, animal lover and a Lapeer County sheriff's deputy who sees value in public service. In September 2016, she was diagnosed with a serious auto immune disease that hinders both of her kidneys from filtering blood.

With her condition worsening and on dialysis, she is turning to friends, family and social media to spread the word about an upcoming event. It’s Sunday, Oct. 13, from 12 to 4 p.m. in Imlay City.

“We will have raffles, food and even helicopter rides," Beall said. "I’m asking everyone to share the info, and the biggest dream come true would be finding someone who is “O positive” or “O negative” to be a kidney donor."
